Placement-cum-Counseling Cell

 

Placement-cum-counseling cell of this department has been established only in the new millennium for a great cause to serve. Although cell is at its cradle stage but the cell aims at the great heights. The main objectives of the cell is to emphasize through a variety of programmes the learning of skills in the legal education curriculum. The cell endeavors to produce lawyers with sense of social responsibility who can face new challenges posed to the legal profession from time to time. In order to achieve this programme, the cell covers activities which include simulation exercises, working on real client problems, legislative drafting, and law reform exercise. The main objective of the Placement-cum-Counseling cell is to provide career counseling and guidance regarding various avenues available about academics and placements.

Extra Curricular Activities
In extra curricular activities, the department keeps on holding seminars on legal as general matters. Moot committees have been set up for frequent moot programmes to brush up the professional skills of the students. Department also undertakes a wide range of activities including clinical training, imparting of knowledge from outside the traditional legal areas for better delivery of legal services by holding discussion and debates with legal experts and judges. Further, to make the students understand the limits and limitations of the relevance and use of alternate modes of lawyering; i.e. Alternate Dispute Resolution mechanism, working of Lok Adalats etc. In order to achieve the said objectives, the department offers a wide range of subjects compulsory as well as optional to the students which are updated fro time to time depending upon the changing needs and requirements of our society. The list of subjects taught semester wise are given hereunder for the ready reference.

In the survey conducted by the India Today- AC NIELSEN-ORG-MARG 2006, the Department of Laws, On the basis of academic excellence is ranked 9th among the best law colleges in the country.
